The region Scotland
Scotland is unique. The scenery is breathtaking. There are high
mountains, often covered in snow all year round, huge lochs (the
Scottish name for lake) such as the famous Loch Ness, (the
deepest loch in Scotland at 1.8km depth) where the infamous
monster “Nessie” has apparently been spotted, lovely seaside
resorts and interesting cities. No visit to Scotland is complete
without a trip to Edinburgh to see the castle and historical
buildings and aristocratic houses. The Edinburgh festival takes
place at the end of August each year. The city of Glasgow was
the European city of culture a few years ago. There is lots to
see and do in this lively city too. Scotland is the home of golf
and there are literally hundreds of golf courses which visitors
can play on. Fishing and bird watching are also very popular.
Water sports and boat trips are available on the Lochs. There
are lots of castles to visit too. Connoisseurs of malt whiskey
can follow the whiskey trail along the Spey Valley. You can
visit many of the distilleries and sample the produce! There is
also a castle trail in this area too. The Scottish people are
extremely friendly and welcoming. They are very proud of their
national dress and you will see men and women wearing their
tartan kilts for special occasions. |
